Stripe Payment Links
Add payment links to invoices so customers can pay online instantly.
What Are Stripe Payment Links?
Stripe payment links let customers pay your invoices online with a credit card or bank transfer. Instead of waiting for cheques or bank transfers, customers can pay immediately with a simple click.
A.X.E.L integrates with Stripe to add secure payment buttons to your invoices automatically. You get paid faster, customers get convenience.
Setting Up Stripe
- Go to Settings → Payments
- Tap Connect Stripe Account
- Follow the Stripe setup process:
- Create a Stripe account (or connect existing one)
- Verify your business details
- Add your bank account for payouts
- Complete any required verification steps
- Return to A.X.E.L when setup is complete
Stripe handles all the compliance, security, and banking regulations. You just connect and start taking payments.
How Payment Links Work
Once Stripe is connected:
- Create and send an invoice as normal
- A.X.E.L automatically adds a Pay Now button to the invoice PDF
- Customer clicks the button
- They're taken to a secure Stripe payment page
- They enter card details and pay
- You get notified of the payment
- The invoice is marked as paid automatically
What Customers See
The payment page is branded with your business name and shows:
- Invoice details and amount
- Secure card payment form
- Bank transfer option (if enabled)
- "Powered by Stripe" for trust and security
- Receipt sent automatically after payment
No customer account needed — they just pay and go.
Supported Payment Methods
- Credit cards — Visa, Mastercard, American Express
- Debit cards — UK debit cards
- Digital wallets — Apple Pay, Google Pay
- Bank transfers — direct from customer's bank account
Multiple options mean more customers can pay the way they prefer.
Fees and Costs
Stripe charges a small fee on each successful payment:
- Card payments: 2.9% + 30p per transaction
- Bank transfers: 0.8% (capped at £5)
These fees are deducted from the payment amount before it reaches your bank account. So a £100 invoice paid by card gives you £96.80 after fees.
Factor this into your pricing if needed — many businesses add a small admin fee for card payments.
Getting Paid
Stripe pays out to your bank account:
- Automatic payouts — daily, weekly, or monthly (you choose)
- Manual payouts — withdraw whenever you want
- Usually 2 business days to reach your bank account
Much faster than waiting for cheques to clear or chasing up bank transfers.
Payment Notifications
When a customer pays:
- You get an immediate notification in A.X.E.L
- The invoice is automatically marked as paid
- Your dashboard updates with the payment
- Customer gets a receipt from Stripe
No manual reconciliation needed — everything happens automatically.
Dispute Protection
Stripe provides fraud protection and dispute handling. If a customer tries to chargeback a legitimate payment, Stripe handles the process and you keep the money (in most cases).
Way better protection than cash or cheques.
Available Plans
Stripe integration is available on Lead Goblin plan and above. It's included in the invoicing features — no extra A.X.E.L fees, just Stripe's standard transaction costs.
